What are the latest games worth checking out in the Google Play Store?
There are thousands and thousands of games available in the Google Play Store, with more being added every month. With so much content hitting the app store, it can be damn near impossible to keep up on all the latest releases and determine which games are worth your time.
Here at Android Central, we want to help. We'll be using this space to let you know about the latest gaming releases for Android that we think deserve your attention. We'll be checking in and updating this page weekly as new games are released, so refresh often!
Update March 31: Dynasty Warriors: Unleashed, N.O.V.A. Legacy, and Crash of Cars — three distinctly different games that are all new, and FREE, on the Google Play Store this week.
Dynasty Warriors: Unleashed
Dynasty Warriors is an action-combat franchise that actually turned 20 years old in 2017. First released on the OG Playstation, the original game was actually 1-on-1 weapon-based fighting game in the same vein as Soul Calibur. The sequel — actually a spin-off — was titled Dynasty Warriors 2 in North America and has been a kick-ass melee hack and slash staple on consoles and handhelds ever since.
Dynasty Warriors: Unleashed marks the franchise's first release on mobile. The touch controls are well laid out and quick, and while the enemies in the early levels feel a little too soft, there's just something so satisfying about stringing together a good combo that sends a wave of enemies flying. You don't really need to know too much about the story —which is loosely based on historical Chinese texts — but there's a variety of characters to unlock and play, each of which have an advantage over certain enemies.
Featuring fast and furious hack and slash action and great cinematic cut scenes, I've had an absolute blast playing it so far — but other early reviews have been less than glowing. Your phone needs at least 2 GB of RAM for this game, and my Pixel has 4 GB so that might explain why I've had no issues. Definitely happy about that because this game is pretty fun.

N.O.V.A. Legacy
Gameloft has released the remastered edition of its Halo-style first-person shooter N.O.V.A., and it's available exclusively for Android.
N.O.V.A. Legacy brings a polished sci-fi adventure from the first episode of the N.O.V.A. franchise. If you've played a Gameloft mobile FPS before you know that they're one of the best in the business. The graphics here are sharp, but nothing we haven't seen before. Once you work your way past the opening tutorial, you'll find a full story mode with weapon crafting elements as well as a fairly impressive 6-player deathmatch mode with customization options and third-person kill cam replays.
What's really impressive here is that Gameloft managed to condense a FPS that looks this good into such a compact file size. They boast that it's only 20MB, but the .apk file I downloaded was at least 50MB. Nevertheless, its smaller file size should ensure it sticks around on my home screen for some time.

Crash of Cars
Crash of Cars is a well-polished game that you should absolutely check out. It's a real-time multiplayer game where the aim is to collect as may crowns as possible while destroying every other car.
Developed by Not Doppler, Crash of Cars takes the fast-paced PVP multiplayer we've seen from slither.io and combines it with cartoonish car mayhem to great success. At its best moments, it feels like a mobile version of Twisted Metal, which is awesome. You control your car by turning left or right, with pop-up buttons for weapon power-ups which are scattered throughout the arena. Crown counts and health are displayed above the cars, so you'll know who's got the most crowns — and who's close to exploding.
There are over 30 cars to unlock and 16 upgradeable power-ups, along with dozens of skins for further customization. Just like the other .io-style games, the gameplay is fast, fun, and extremely addictive. Currently, it's strictly multiplayer, which I love just fine, but there's also a single-player mode and other new content coming soon.
