Best New Games for Android

What are the latest games worth checking out in the Google Play Store?

There are thousands and thousands of games available in the Google Play Store, with more being added every month. With so much content hitting the app store, it can be damn near impossible to keep up on the latest releases and determine which games are worth your time.

Here at Android Central, we want to help. We'll be using this space to let you know about the latest gaming releases for Android that we think deserve your attention. We'll be checking in and updating this page weekly as new games are released, so refresh often!

Update March 3: No Escape, Gravity Ball and Postknight are three new games for Android that we think are very worthy of your attention.

No Escape

At first glance, you may thing that No Escape is just another Flappy Bird clone which replaces the bird with a space ship. But that's not really fair.

No Escape certainly borrows heavily from the Flappy Bird game mechanic — you tap to fly up as you try to make it as far as you can without crashing — but it offers a much more challenging and rewarding experience. For starters, every time you tap your ship also shoots a missile and instead of flying through the gaps you must create your own! There's also enemy ships to contend with and power ups to help you along the way.

Most importantly, you can collect coins to buy new ships based on sci-fi classics like the Millennium Falcon, Starship Enterprise and even the Winnebago space ship from Spaceballs. That's enough motivation to keep me hooked for a while.

Gravity Ball

This addictive puzzle game is set in space, and has you playing a little glowing green ball that's lost in an asteroid field. You'll need to find your way to the end portal by occasionally manipulating gravity.

In each level, you'll see not only the modifiers available to you, but also the order you're allowed to use them in, which will give you a big hint for solving the level. The game records your best times so you can go back and try to beat your personal records. There's also collectables scattered throughout the level to collect. The controls are very simple, with a virtual joystick for moving the ball and an action button for modifying gravity or jumping.

There are five worlds with multiple levels to play through with no ads or in-app purchases distract you.

Postknight

Postknight is a simplified role-playing game that has definitely been optimized to play with one hand. You play the role of a knight/delivery boy who has deliveries to make and won't let pesky bandits or wolves stand in his way.

Everything here is compartmentalized. At the beginning of the adventure, you set off in search of the scattered citizens of Pompon after a dragon scare. This is where you learn the basics of combat, weapon crafting, armor, potions and pretty much everything else you need to know. Overall, this game appears to do a pretty good job of including a decent amount of strategy and things to upgrade, while keeping things casual enough to pick up and play when you have a few minutes of free time.

One thing to note is that this game takes a bit of time to load, so if you think it's frozen on the opening screen just give it some time.
