Fight to survive as long as you can in Wayward Souls! [Best games from the AC community]

We want to know what games you're playing!

Updated March 25: In this week's edition we highlight the fantastic action-adventure game Wayward Souls, along with GTA: Chinatown Wars and War Dragons!

What games are you playing on your Android phones or tablets? We want to know!

We've started a thread in the AC Forums as a place to share your opinions on games you think more people should be playing. Look out for posts by me (Marc Lagace) and say hello! You can also comment below!

Wayward Souls

This game was recommended by Aanze in the comments because they're tired of seeing so many crappy freemium games constantly getting attention. Well, we thank you for your recommendation because Wayward Souls is very much a premium game — no F-ing around here.

Wayward Souls is not cheap — it'll set you back $6.99. But it's also unlike pretty much any game you'll play on Android. Described in the recommendation as "some kind of tiny 2D Dark Souls", this is the perfect title for gamers who are up for a real challenge.

This games features intense rogue-like action with randomly generated levels and permanent death. The first time you play you're just sort of dropped into the game and have to learn how to play as you go. If you die, that character is permanently dead and you just start over with a fresh character in a new part of the world.

The gameplay is really great, and the graphics and soundtrack are spectacular. Again, the difficulty is pretty insane, but this game rewards good playing skill, so the more you play and learn how to use your character's powers, the better off

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars

This is another example of a game where you get what you pay for, and what you receive here is a fantastic port of Rockstar's first GTA game specifically designed for mobile devices.

Initially released on the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP back in 2009, Chinatown Wars reverts back to the classic top-down gameplay found in the first two GTA titles with updated graphics. The game follows Huang Lee as he seeks to avenge his father's murder and ensure that his family retains control of the Triad gangs of Liberty City.

Featuring an epic storyline filled with tons of side-missions, mini-games and collectables, this is a fully fledged Grand Theft Auto game that has been specifically designed for portable devices. Featuring support for Android TV devices and select Android Bluetooth and USB controllers, you can settle in and play this like a proper console game as well if you choose.

Recommended by Domestoboto92x in the comments — who got it on sale for just $.99! — he does offer the warning that your save files are saved locally. That's worth keeping in mind if you're the type who frequently switches between devices.

War Dragons

If you're looking for a new game to play this weekend that won't cost you $5 or more right off the hop, perhaps you'll be interested in checking out War Dragons.

This game was recommended by Kefra in the comments, but I've also got a few friends who swear by this game. It combines tower defence and action elements to create a unique gaming experience that should be especially appealing for Game of Thrones fans. You're tasked with breeding your own army of dragons while also building the defences around your kingdom. Once you're ready, you command your rampaging dragons on attack runs, destroying other kingdoms in PvP battles.

There are over 100 dragons to breed and discover, each with their own attack styles, spell abilities, and classes. With the Guild system, you're able to combine forces and challenge other guilds. There's a ton of strategic action to enjoy here, with some of the best graphics you'll find on in an Android game. The game does feature in-app purchases (sorry Aanze!), but my friends have had tons of fun playing it without spending a dime.
